Pevely man accused of possessing child porn

Anthony Jean Burroughs

Anthony Jean Burroughs, 27, of Pevely was recently arrested on charges for possession of child pornography, court records show.

Burroughs was arrested on Sept. 4, and as of Sept. 7, he was being held on a $50,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to court documents.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on Aug. 29 charged Burroughs with three counts of possession of child pornography, each a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison, court papers said.

St. Louis County Police detectives from the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that Burroughs may be in possession of the illegal material. Detectives contacted Burroughs at his home in the 9300 block of Market Street, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.

Burroughs confessed to having child porn, and detectives found more than 200 images on his devices, the report said.
