Vernard Frederick Zufall, 95, of Festus, formerly of De Soto, died March 16, 2026. Born March 11, 1931, in De Soto, Mr. Zufall was the son of the late Vern Paul and Arieta Maybelle (DeClue) Zufall.
He is survived by four children from his union with Barbara Nell Phelps: Vern (Belinda Gibbs) Zufall of De Soto, Donna (Steve) Lough of Marbel Hill, Rhonda (Larry) Nash of Salem and John (Reamel) of Festus; a sister-in-law: Lori (Kelly) Turner of Bunker; six grandchildren: Cherie Wison, Vern Zufall, Zachary (Whitney) Nash, Monica (David) Wilkerson, Jake Zufall and Zebulon (Leah) Nash; 10 great-grandchildren: Logan (Samantha) Spradling, Cassie Spradling, Joleigh Nash, Cutler Nash, Zaden Zufall, Elizabeth Wamsgans, Kirk Wamsgans, Keyanna Zufall, Ashley Wilson and Klover Jarnig; seven great-great-grandchildren: Lacy Wilson, Levi Wilson, Nolan Willis, Damien Wilson, Aaron Wilson Jr., Finley Spradling and Percy Spradling; and longtime companion: Fredia Ann Ferguson.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Zelma (the late Jim) Long; two granddaughters: Kelli Copeland and Annie Zufall; a grandson: Norman Copeland; two great-grandsons: Aaron Wilson and Eric Zufall and their mother, Barbara Phelps.
A graveside visitation is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Monday, March 23, in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the National Farmers Organization. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
