fatal shooting

A De Soto woman was shot and killed March 31 in Festus.

Diana M. Hall, 41, died after she reportedly was shot by a 40-year-old Festus woman at a house in the 400 block of South Fifth Street during an apparent dispute over a man, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis reported.

“A 40-year-old woman shot a 41-year-old woman who she said attacked her,” Lewis said. “It appears to be a dispute over a boyfriend or an ex-boyfriend.”

He said the shooting occurred in a bedroom at the home.

Lewis said today, April 3, that the Festus woman had not been arrested or charged, adding that the case was still under investigation.

Lewis said investigators were looking into whether the Festus woman had acted in self-defense.

“At this point, we’re reviewing all the evidence,” he said.

Lewis said Festus Police got a call at approximately 11:30 p.m. about the shooting.

“Officers responded and tried to do lifesaving measures until JPAD (Joachim-Plattin Ambulance) arrived. JPAD declared her dead at the scene,” he said.
