Blake M. Edwards, 19, of Imperial was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 11:50 p.m. Sept. 1 on East Rock Creek Road just west of Old Lemay Ferry Road in the Imperial area.
Edwards was a passenger in a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup driven by an 18-year-old Imperial man, who has been arrested in connection with the accident, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
The 18-year-old’s name will not be released unless charges are filed.
The highway patrol reportedly is seeking a felony manslaughter charge and a misdemeanor DWI charge against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
That teen was driving east on East Rock Creek Road and failed to negotiate a curve, lost control of the car and traveled into the westbound lane, where it struck a 2011 Ryder tanker truck, the highway patrol reported.
Edwards was ejected, the patrol reported.
The driver of the tanker truck, Daniel J. Grewe, 49, of Arnold. was not injured, the patrol reported.
Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 18-year-old was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County, the patrol reported.
Neither Edwards nor the driver of the pickup was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
