Raymond D. and Carolyn M. McLean, both of Festus, died in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 10:57 a.m. today (June 20) on Hwy. 61 at I-55 south of Festus, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
Raymond McLean, 75, was driving a 2005 Lexus LS 430 south on I-55 exiting at Hwy. 61, where a northbound pickup failed to stop at a red light and struck the car, the report said.
The front of the pickup, a 1997 Chevrolet 1500, struck the driver’s side of the car, according to the report.
A 17-year-old Ste. Genevieve man was driving the pickup, the patrol said.
The teenager was hurt and taken by helicopter to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where he was listed in serious condition this afternoon.
The McLeans were pronounced dead at the scene.
Raymond McLean was wearing a seat belt. Neither Carolyn McLean, 70, nor the Ste. Genevieve man was wearing one, the patrol said.
