High Ridge man sentenced in multiple cases to 7-year term

Tondom J. Clark, 36, of High Ridge recently was sentenced two seven-year prison terms for resisting arrest and driving with a revoked license, court papers show.

He also received two six-year terms for domestic assault and abuse of a child, the report said.

But, all the terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time, according to the report.

In May 2011, Clark, who in 2004 had been convicted of driving while intoxicated, was found driving on Hunning Road in High Ridge with a revoked license, the report said.

Clark also resisted arrest, trying to flee from an officer who was trying to pull him

    Rock firefighters revive dog caught in house fire

    Rock Community firefighters recently used a special K-9 mask to revive a dog that was suffering from smoke inhalation following a kitchen fire at a home in the 1900 block of Maple Drive in Arnold, says Ron Harder, the fire district’s public information officer.

    The district received a call about the fire at 7 p.m. Wednesday (June 12).

    The two Festus men involved in an airplane crash on Monday (June 11) south of Festus remained hospitalized today (June 13).

    Three injured in Doe Run acid leak

    Three employees were injured this morning (June 11) in a sulfuric acid leak at the Doe Run Co. smelter in Herculaneum, one seriously enough to be transported by helicopter for medical care.

    The leak occurred in the acid storage line at the plant, authorities reported.

    Festus father, son injured in plane crash south of Festus

    Jim Smith and his son, Kristopher Smith, both of Festus, were injured tonight (June 10) when their experimental aircraft crashed about two miles south of the Festus Airport in a field near 2627 Plattin Road.

    At 10:15 p.m., Jim Smith, 65, had been transported by helicopter to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Kristopher Smith, 40, also was extricated from the airplane. He, too, was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

    Hedwig Vinson, 24, of Arnold plans to ride a bike 3,770 miles across the northern U.S., beginning June 17 in Portsmouth, N.H., and ending Aug. 25 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

    Financial trouble in the state of Illinois is driving a decision to relocate a longtime music extravaganza to West City Park in Festus.

    The Traditional Music Festival, held annually at Fort Kaskaskia State Historic Site in Ellis Grove, Ill., for the last 23 years, will come to Festus the weekend of Sept. 21-22.

    The Lucy’s Palace concert that was scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday (June 1) in Arnold City Park has been canceled due to flooding.

    The Meramec River is predicted to crest at 39.7 feet, which would put the park’s picnic area underwater, said Teresa Kohut, who works for the Arnold Parks and Recreation Department. Additional rain that may fall tonight (May 31) or tomorrow (June 1) could raise the predicted flood crest, she said.

    More than 1,000 new radios have been distributed through the massive countywide emergency response radio improvement project spearheaded by Jefferson County 911 Dispatch.

    An Imperial man whose medical condition allegedly contributed to a vehicle crash that killed a Crystal City woman in February has been charged in connection with her death.
