About 1,500 people turned out March 23 to view the projects and participate in the activities at the 34th annual Mastodon Arts and Sciences Regional Fair, held at the Field House on Jefferson College’s Hillsboro campus.
The fair is held during the college’s spring break every year, and involves more than 3,000 students from local schools and home-school groups. Projects are collected and judged early in the week, then displayed for the public on the weekend.

About 120 people turned out for an Easter egg hunt held Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Otto.
That included more than 60 children who participated in the egg hunt, said Murel Warren, an elder at the church.
Warren said he was pleased with the participation, considering the weather.
“It was good for how breezy and cool it was,” Warren said.
Fortunately, the rain in the forecast held off.

Arnold’s second annual Sept. 11 memorial service drew a crowd of about 75 this morning (Sept. 11) to the city’s monument that honors 9/11 victims, located outside the Arnold Recreation Center, 1695 Missouri State Road.
The monument contains a piece of steel from the World Trade Center in New York City, which was destroyed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attack. The city obtained the steel last year in time for a ceremony observing the 10th anniversary of the attack.
