Two from county die in accident early Saturday

Lawrence Coleman, 56, of Arnold and Matthew Barton, 29, of Cedar Hill were killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 2:50 a.m. Saturday (June 15) at South Broadway and River City Boulevard in St. Louis, reports the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

A witness told police that a tractor-trailer, which Coleman was driving, ran a red light at South Broadway and River City Boulevard and struck a 1994 Ford Explorer driven by Barton, the report said.

After the collision, the tractor-trailer, a 2010 Kensworth, continued south, striking two power poles, a fence and a pontoon boat parked at a house, according to the report.

    Festus woman, 25, moderately injured in Saturday accident on I-64; Florida man dies

    Brittany N. Ruckman, 25, of Festus was hurt in a two-vehicle accident that happened about 8:15 p.m. Saturday (June 15) on I-64 west of Boones Crossing in St. Louis County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

    A Florida man was killed in the accident, and another was hurt, the report said.

    Crash in Oermann injures High Ridge woman, 25

    A 25-year-old High Ridge woman was taken by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur after a one-car accident that occurred about 7:20 p.m. Monday (Sept. 10) in Oermann, in far west Jefferson County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

    Corrinne M. Baldridge was driving a 1999 Ford Escort west on Hwy. 30, near West Forest Hill Drive, when her car left the right side of the road and struck a utility pole and guy wire, the report said.

    Jefferson County P.A. files array of charges against former Valley Park mayor

    Former Valley Park Mayor Nathan J. Grellner was charged Wednesday (Aug. 22) with driving while intoxicated, assaulting a law enforcement officer and four other misdemeanors in connection with a June incident in Jefferson County, court documents show.

    Horse in Jefferson County has tested positive for West Nile Virus

    A horse from Jefferson County has tested positive for the West Nile Virus, the Jefferson County Health Department reports.

    The Health Department learned about the horse this week. Horses are susceptible to West Nile and can be infected through the bite of a mosquito.

    After a recount of votes on Friday morning (Aug. 24), George Engelbach remained the winner of the Republican primary election for Jefferson County Council, District 4.

    Jefferson County hires Kristy Yates as deputy director of Public Works

    Jefferson County Executive Ken Waller and his staff have hired Imperial resident Kristy Yates to fill one of two open leadership positions in the county Public Works Department.

    Jefferson Regional, Mercy sign letter of intent for partnership

    Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City and Mercy announced Wednesday (Aug. 15) the signing of a letter of intent for a health care partnership to serve Jefferson County and the surrounding region.

    Three congressional districts instead of one led to confusion at county polls

    Jefferson County Clerk Wes Wagner said many voters approached election judges when they saw unfamiliar names and districts on their ballots during the primary election Tuesday (Aug. 7).

    About 21 percent of registered voters (30,178 of 146,046) in Jefferson County cast ballots during Tuesday’s (Aug. 7) primary election, County Clerk Wes Wagner reports.

    Festus woman injured in one-car crash

    A Festus woman was injured when her car hit a utility pole in a one-car crash Friday (Aug. 3) near High Ridge.

    Michelle S. Frost, 27, received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County, the Missouri Highway Patrol reports.

    Hospital spokeswoman Lois Kendall said Frost was treated and released.

    Frost was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse eastbound on Bear Creek Road, east of Midridge Drive, when she drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to the Patrol. She was wearing a seatbelt. The crash was reported

    High Ridge man injured in crash with firetruck

    A High Ridge man was injured Friday when he crashed into a firetruck parked at the scene of a medical emergency on Hwy. 44, two miles east of Gray Summit in Franklin County, the Missouri Highway Patrol reports.

    David T. Riley, 48, was driving a 1993 Toyota Paseo eastbound at about 3:25 p.m. According the Highway Patrol, a 2006 Pierce firetruck, owned by the Boles Fire Protection District, was stopped in the roadway at a medical scene, partially blocking the right lane and shoulder. The patrol states that Riley was “inattentive and struck the rear” of the firetruck.
