David Charles Chilton, 80, of Sterling Heights, Mich., formerly of Hillsboro, died April 7, 2026, at his home. Mr. Chilton worked as a lab technician for Chrysler before retiring and, for many years, played with the Century Concrete Softball Club. Born Feb. 20, 1946, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Mabel (Johnson) and Ervin Willard Chilton.
He is survived by his wife: Brenda (Mitchell) Chilton; a daughter: Kimberly (Randy) Carter of Hillsboro; five grandchildren: Christopher Carter, Andrew Carter, David Carter, Nicholas Carter and Samantha Carter; and five great-grandchildren: Nicholas Carter, Parker Carter, Presley Carter, Roand Carter and Arthur Carter.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Dennis Chilton, Dena Riddle and Daryl Chiton.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Interment will be held at a later date in the National Cemetery in Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
